An Ideal Craftsman by Walter de la Mare --- Review


The short story "An Ideal Craftsman" was written by British writer and poet Walter de la Mare. In the story, the boy awoke in the middle of the night. He had a nightmare and being under the impression of it, he witnessed a real murder.


The author paid much attention to describing many details: things which the boy owned and saw, smells, thoughts. He was presented by the writer as innocent in the beginning of the story. Did he look the same in the ending? Perhaps Walter de la Mare deliberately left this question for readers as open …
