Three Portraits by Ivan Turgenev— Review

The story “Three Portraits” by classic Russian literature Ivan Turgenev describes the destinies of the people. The author describes the three portraits. The author brought the attention of readers to each portrait, trying to make clear what kind of life everyone has.

Events happen so quickly and unexpectedly that readers read the book in eager to know what would happen next. Readers will be shocked by the information they learn. They read and realize that they misses the mark in their judgment. And again- shock, shock.

We have here the inability to predict events, which in turn unfold in the most shocking way. This work is so emotional and rich in terms of different feelings that it is simply impossible to remain indifferent and calm.

“Mariana” by Fritz Leiber— Review

“Does it work? Don’t touch it!”. The main character of the story Mariana by Fritz Leiber didn’t follow this advice, she was just tired of the pine trees. She was also a little clumsy and timid. In this case, it turned out to be an absolutely terrible combination.

The story is about the reality of what it is, and whether we are all in the matrix.

“The Coffee-House of Surat” by Leo Tolstoy — Review

In 1791, the French writer Jacques Bernardin de Saint-Pierre wrote a parable story, which was translated into Russian in 1887 by Lev Nikolaevich Tolstoy.

The story takes place in Surat, India. There was one famous coffee shop. Foreigners gathered there and had their conversations where a single follower of Judaism, Hinduism, Protestantism, Catholicism, and Islam argued with each other about the true path to salvation.

At the end of the story all guests turned to a quiet Chinese man and asked his opinion.

The Limpet by Daphne du Maurier — Review

This story “The Limpet” by Daphne du Maurier is a kind of psychological training on the topic of manipulation.

The main character of the story does not realize that she is manipulating everyone who comes into her hands.

Daphne du Maurier portrayed a real monster of manipulation under the guise of a fragile woman, posing as a victim, demonstrating widespread concern for those around her.
