The beginning of the story “The Tuppenny Millionaire” by P. G. Wodehouse gives us the feeling that we understood the character of the hero - this is a boring, "mechanical" clerk, incapable of recklessness.
Nevertheless, the clerk leaves his desk and goes to rest in a place near Monte Carlo. He meets a beautiful lady. The clerk has a chance to earn the favor of a charming lady, but he makes a mistake.
And instead of reconciling with defeat, as logic requires, he bravely rushes against fate.
