The School Play by Gary Soto -- Review

The short story "The School Play" by Gary Soto is about fear of the main character, the boy Robert, who was desperately afraid of forgetting his lines in the school play. The author describes phobias which some people face.

Robert had only two phrases to say during the play “Nothing's wrong. I can see,”. He repeated it for many days answering the questions of other people, he said it even his dog when the dog asked for something to eat and to drink.

The Beach Boy by Ottessa Moshfegh -- Review --

The short story, “The Beach Boy” by Ottessa Moshfegh was published in the magazine "The New Yorker" in 2016. The narration is guided from the site of a married man. The author presents an everyday routine conversation between a husband and wife. It looked like it would continue forever but the death of a wife and the photo with some beach boy changed the life of the main character.

The process of transition of personality was described in the story most distinctively.  The main character wanted to find something fresh. However, the ending of the story leads the main character to nowhere, which may disappoint some readers.

The story "Yogurt" by Ronald Wallace belongs to the Flash Fiction genre. It is short in size and it covers only an instant of life. Here the guy started thinking about divorce with his wife when suddenly an unexpected event happened, he got yogurt in his face from the stranger.

“Violation?” She gave him the word he was looking for.
